AsianFin -- Nevada-headquartered non-profit organization Intelligent Racing Foundation (IRF) and Contemporary Amperex Intelligent Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (CAIT) on Wednesday announced a major strategic partnership to work togehter on global artificial inteilligence (AI) racing.

During the "Dialogue with the World" forum hosted by TMTPost at the CES 2025 in Las Vegas, the two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote the development of global AI racing and CIIC rolling chassis technology. 

The Intelligent Racing Foundation will launch Asia’s first electric AI racing event in 2025, to be held at an iconic landmark in China, with the goal of setting a new world record in electric AI racing. The specific location, competition standards, and schedule will be announced separately by IRF. CAIT will exclusively supply the CIIC rolling Chassisfor this event, enabling each racing team to develop and compete using their autonomous driving technology on the standardized chassis platform.

In addition to the event itself, CAIT and the Intelligent Racing Foundation will work closely to promote the AI electric racing competition as a research platform for leading universities in China and globally. The Intelligent Racing Foundation will also develop and implement standards for 3D localization and perception based on competition vehicles, and all participating teams will share AI racing data to foster innovation.

Together, the two partners aim to build a smarter, more efficient, and highly competitive AI racing technology platform. By opening the competition platform to global universities and enterprises, they intend to foster industry-wide collaboration and new business opportunities. This partnership will also promote AI racing culture worldwide, providing a practical platform for the deep integration of AI and electric mobility.

This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in the convergence of CIIC rolling chassis technology with autonomous driving applications, ushering in a new chapter in the global integration of AI and electric racing technology.

Crystal Tang, Secretary General of the Intelligent Racing Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership at the signing ceremony. "In the increasingly competitive AI market, gaining consumer recognition and trust in AI technology requires new industry models focused on extreme AI safety, competitiveness, and standardization. AI electric racing combines two of the most transformative technologies of our time—new energy vehicles and AI-driven intelligence—and draws from over 120 years of global racing culture," Tang said. "This competition will serve as a global platform for solving key challenges in the AI market by promoting innovation and data sharing."

She also noted this partnership leverages CAIT’s leading expertise in CIIC rolling chassis technology and IRF’s rich experience in organizing and promoting AI racing events. We’re excited to work together to establish a new benchmark for AI electric racing in Asia. 

Guoliang Hu, Executive President of CATL Intelligent Technology, highlighted the significance of the partnership. Hu said that this competition marks "the beginning of real-world applications for CIIC rolling chassis technology in autonomous driving," adding that it offers a highly intelligent and rapidly deployable platform for industry innovation. The standardized software and hardware interfaces developed through this collaboration will enable CIIC rolling chassis to better serve personalized and scenario-based mobility needs.
